
Robert's Soup Beans
This recipe is inspired by my taste for Mexican food. In addition to being known as Sopa De Frijoles, similar recipes are known as barracho beans, frijoles de barracho, bean soup, etc.
I think my friend Jerry's beans are better. Nonetheless, here's my entry:
Suggested Equipment:
- Gas or electric stove
- Large Soup Pot w/lid (4-6 quarts is good)
- Sharp knife
- Large Spoon
- Ladel (for serving)
- Cutting board or other cutting surface
- Hot Pad
- Can Opener
- Cheese Grater
- Measuring Cup
- Dishes, silverware, etc. for guests
Suggested Ingredients:
(Of course you can substitute items below with something else to suit taste and/or availability)
(1) Ragin Cajun Fixin's - Cajun Style Ten Bean Soup with Seasonings and Vegetables - Net Weight 16oz (453 grams).
(2) Chappell Hill Smoked Beef Sausage (we are only going to use 1 and 1/2 of these).
(1) Hunts - Tomatoes - Diced - Roasted Garlic Flavor - 14.5 oz (411 gram).
1 Large (about 3" long or equivalent) Jalapeno
1 Medium-Sized White Onion
6 Individual Garlic Pods
A couple of handfuls of fresh cilantro
Cheese (Optional - I like Sharp Cheddar)
Black Pepper
Tortilla Chips and Picante Sauce (Appetiser)
Guacamole - served as a side to the soup with tortilla chips for dipping
Lots of cold, iced tea (or your favorite cold beverage)
