God made lots of different plants and animals that we can eat. However, God did not intend for humans to eat everything that is edible.
In 2006, many if not most of the plants and animals available for humans to eat have:
- been
genetically modified from what God made
- have been altered with pesticides,
harmones, etc
- have had preservatives or other non-food added to them
- have been processed in one or more ways
I am by no means a nutrition expert. However, I have studied nutrition enough to offer the guidelines below. These are based on other nutrition experts' information and publications I have read.
Furthermore, I have included some links to websites of Christian nutrition experts which you may find useful for gaining more detailed nutrition information.
Basic Christian Dietary Guidelines:
1. Completely avoid pork, pork products and other foods containing pork products. The reason for this is that the structure of pork meat is different than that of other meats and is therefore not able to be properly digested by human beings. Foods to avoid include:
- any kind of hotdogs containing pork
- sausage, bacon, ham, pepperoni
- pork ribs, pork chops
2. Completely avoid any foods containing sodium nitrite. This includes all processed lunch meats.
3. Completely avoid artificial sweeteners including any products containing aspertame, nutrisweet or saccrine. Instead there is a relatively new product that is ok to consume called Stevia.
4. Do not use margarine products, any products containing hydrogenated oils, any products containing trans-fatty acids, crisco (lard) or any products containing lard (often used in hot tamales). Instead use extra-virgin olive oil (all other types are processed or chemically treated).
5. Avoid high-fat content dairy products. Do not eat ice cream, heavy cream or butter. Drink skim milk. Eat frozen yogurt or sherbet. Instead of butter, use extra-virgin olive oil (all other types are processed or chemically treated).
6. Do not eat shellfish including shrimp, crab, crawfish, oysters, mullusks, clams, lobster. The reason for this is that these creatures eat the garbage including other fish feces that settles to the bottom of bodies of water and they have no way to expel their bodies of these and other toxins.
7. Do not eat fish that do not have scales. This includes catfish, shark, squid, etc. The reason is the same as for number 6 above. They are bottom feeders and eat the garbage of other fish, etc.
8. Do not drink unfiltered water. Avoid alcohol products. Avoid caffeine.
